Standard Pie Crust

Ingredients

8 or 9 inch one crust pie

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 + cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 Tablespoons cold water

8 or 9 inch two crust pie

  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 + cup vegetable shortening
  • 4 Tablespoons cold water

Directions

Cut shortening into flour and salt until particles are size of small peas.

Sprinkle in water, 1 tablespoon at a time

Toss with fork until all flour is moistened and pasty almost cleans side of bowl

Gather pastry into a ball

Wrap with Saran wrap and refrigerate 1/2 hour before rolling
